Job Description

Commercial/Contracts Manager

Ondine Limited, a leading marine survey company specialising in Offshore Geophysical Survey Work, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial/Contracts Manager to join our team. As a Commercial/Contracts Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the commercial and contractual aspects of our projects. This position requires strong negotiation skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of commercial and legal frameworks within the marine survey industry. The Commercial/Contracts Manager will report to their line manager and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of commercial agreements and contracts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Commercial and Contract Management:

Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of projects, including tendering, negotiation, and contract administration.

Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Ondine’s commercial interests, ensuring alignment with project objectives and financial goals.

Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies in contract negotiations.

  • Tendering and Proposal Development:

Lead the tendering process, including the preparation and submission of competitive bids and proposals.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop commercially viable and technically sound solutions that meet client requirements.

Review tender documents, identify commercial and contractual risks, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Contract Negotiation and Administration:

Negotiate and finalize contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring favourable terms and conditions while protecting Ondine’s interests.

Ensure contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including monitoring deliverables, managing variations, and resolving disputes.

Collaborate with legal counsel when necessary to review and modify contractual terms and agreements.

  • Client and Stakeholder Management:

Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the contract duration.

Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and subcontractors to coordinate resources and deliverables according to contractual obligations.

Act as a primary point of contact for client inquiries, concerns, and contract-related issues, providing timely and effective resolution.

  • Commercial Analysis and Reporting:

Conduct commercial analysis, including financial assessments, cost estimations, and profitability evaluations.

Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, highlighting project performance, commercial risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Risk Management:

Identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities, providing proactive recommendations to mitigate risks and optimize project outcomes.

Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, minimizing legal and financial exposure.

  • Continuous Improvement:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the commercial and contracts function, identifying areas for optimization and implementing best practices.

Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and market conditions to adapt commercial strategies accordingly.

  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, commerce, law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Commercial/Contracts Manager within the marine survey industry, preferably in offshore geophysical survey work.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual principles, terms, and legal frameworks within the marine survey industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in tendering, contract negotiation, and administration.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze complex commercial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
